Halstab's technical services and development group is located in a modern plant at the powder production facility in Hammond, Indiana. Here the group concentrates on the development of new additives for polymers, specializing in making new and novel stabilizers for PVC.
TECHNICAL SERVICES & DEVELOPMENT
Halstab quality control analysis
Most of the new product development work carried on is highly customer specific. The customer may need a very low volatile organic stabilizer, that at the same time has excellent plate-out characteristics and provides very good long term high transparency heat stability. The chemists will work with the customer's formulation and cost constraints to develop a product tailored for the application; often, in order to maximize performance, the chemist will visit the customer's facility and assist in running the new product on the production line.

low VOC, and provide wide formulating latitude. Stabilizers based on tri-metals are unique in the industry and are believed to represent a breakthrough in PVC stabilization, especially in critical calendering applications.
The group not only develops product line extensions, but has been very successful at new product development. Tri-metal stabilizers, consisting of calcium, barium and zinc, were developed to give very good printability, low cost,
An entire line of food grade and medical grade stabilizers has been developed around Halstab's unique calcium intermediates. These products are based on the development of specialty calcium building blocks that enable stabilizers to be made with levels of calcium metal never before possible.
The Halstab strategy emphasizes providing technical assistance as one of the primary services we provide to every customer. We not only will help with the stabilizer, but can help in designing formulations that maximize the performance of the stabilizer and the end product being produced. We believe that emphasizing both new product development and process technology are the keys to growing and prospering in the rapidly changing world of PVC heat stabilizers.
